Dyslipidemia is the main contributor of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Diseases (ASCVD). Majority of Indians have one lipid abnormality. In India 50% of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) associated deaths occur before the age of 50 years. Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) occur in 25% of Indians before the age of 40 years. With many effective, safe and inexpensive lipid-lowering drugs, it’s important to identify and start treating dyslipidemia as early as possible. Lipid profile should be ordered at the first visit anytime after the age of 18 years.
